For The Century Foundation, Cassandra May wrote an essay about her experience working in blue-collar America. She told Study Hall, “ I wrote this article to share my firsthand account of the challenges disabled and chronically ill people experience in blue-collar workplaces.”
In her essay, May writes, “My job took a physical toll in addition to an emotional one. Chronic pain is a common invisible disability for many blue-collar workers, including me, as I dealt with. heavy components, fast process times, and repetitive motions.”
