Ali M. Latifi Wrote About Revisiting A Shah Rukh Khan Film
For The New Humanitarian, Ali M. Latifi wrote about revisiting a Shah Rukh Khan film, Chak De! India, due to the recent rise of anti-Muslim sentiment in India.
Latfi told Study Hall, “Last month’s attack in Kashmir has seen an explosion of divisive anti-Muslim, anti-Kashmiri and anti-Pakistan rhetoric among social and traditional media in India. Much of the comments made about Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam attack reminded me of what Shah Rukh Khan’s fictional character in 2007’s Chak De! India went through, so I wrote about how an 18-year-old movie has so much to say about the current state of Indian media.”
Latifi is the Asia Editor at The New Humanitarian.
