For Mongabay, Benjamin Swift reported on how as wildfires return, indigenous communities are still struggling to rebuild following 2023’s fires.

Swift tells Study Hall, “After writing about the racist undertones of Bolivia’s environmental movement for NACLA during last year’s fire season, I continued reporting in the same region to cover this year’s fires, which have burned ten percent of Bolivia (an area as big as Kentucky or Iceland).”

Benjamin Swift is a writer, filmmaker, and podcast producer who is based in La Paz, Bolivia.
