Jay Deitcher Wrote About A New Type of Dad Tattoo

by | June 18, 2025

For GQ, Jay Deitcher wrote about how dads are getting their kids’ quirky drawings tattooed onto them. Deitcher came up with a nickname for the tattoos: “tattoodles.” For the article, Deitcher spoke to a tattooist who does the “tattoodles” and people who got “tattoodles.”

Deticher wrote, “I myself have numerous tattoodles dancing around my forearm. Every year, I have each of my kids design a new character to add to the crew; many of them are supposed to be me or other family members, and they note my kids’ birth order and ages.”

Deitcher’s writing has appeared in Rolling Stone, Vox, The Cut, and numerous other outlets.
