Scarlett Harris Wrote About And Just Like That’s Missed Opportunity to Explore Sex in Later Life

by | August 18, 2025

For TIME, Scarlett Harris wrote an essay criticizing And Just Like That for not fully exploring the topic of sex amongst menopausal women.

She told Study Hall, “I had thought about pitching a piece about And Just Like That’s missed opportunity to explore Charlotte York-Goldenblatt’s (Kristin Davis) reduced sex life when her husband Harry (Evan Handler) is diagnosed with prostate cancer, a side-effect of which can be erectile dysfunction, especially when that was such an issue in her first marriage in the original series. When it was announced that this season would be And Just Like That’s last, I realised there was an opportunity to widen the scope to talk about how the show in general shied away from exploring the sex lives of menopausal women. Luckily, TIME agreed.”

Scarlett’s writing has appeared in The New York Times, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, and other outlets.
