For Prospect, Will Coldwell, a Study Hall member, wrote about the trial of Ibrahima Bah, a teenage asylum seeker who was convicted of manslaughter after a boat he was piloting sank in the English Channel. The story draws on the details of a month-long trial, as well as interviews with his family—and letters with Ibrahima from prison —in order to piece together how his journey ended in tragedy. According to Coldwell, “his unprecedented conviction illustrates the harsh consequences of a legal system increasingly designed to punish people who arrive in the UK seeking safety.”

Coldwell has written for The Guardian, 1843, and British GQ.
