For The Walrus, Mihika Agarwal reported on how matchmakers in India now have to compete with AI services.

Agarwal told Study Hall,  “I wrote about India’s centuries-old institution of arranged matchmaking being altered by artificial intelligence—and the accompanying complexities and challenges.”

The piece covers how one specific AI-generated service, Betterhalf, has issues like excluding LGBTQ+ users. In addition, Agarwal explores how despite the competition, traditional matchmaking services are still booming.

Agarwal’s writing has appeared in The New York Times, Vox, Vogue, and VICE
