Andrew Rosenblum Wrote About Artists Using AI As A Tool
For The Verge, Andrew Rosenblum wrote about artists using AI as a tool. Though there tends to be a stigma attached to creators using AI, Rosenblum explores how some artists have found ways to innovate with the tool.
Ronsenblum told Study Hall, “Thanks to a tip from Study Hall, I learned about the “Modifier” series in The Verge, about re-purposing existing technologies into something new. Working with editor Marina Galperina, and with helpful commentary from art critic Ben Davis, I reported on Oakland-based painter Brett Amory, who deliberately tries to ‘break’ AI in order to create an alternative reality for his paintings in which ChatGPT is an all-powerful superintelligence that communicates in its own language, called AIGlyphic913.”
He added, “Amory is working in a longer tradition of ‘glitch’ art that dates back to the early days of the Internet and before.”
Rosenblum’s writing has appeared in MIT Technology Review, New Scientist, and numerous other outlets.
