Melissa Hart Wrote A Deep Into Florida’s Silver Spring State Park
For Hidden Compass, Melissa Hart wrote about the “long, bizarre history of Florida’s Silver Springs State Park.”
Hart told Study Hall that her article features “mastodons, manatees, rattlesnake milkers and alligator wrestlers, greedy glass-bottom boat captains and monkeys with herpes.”
In her article, she writes, “I wonder if we, as a seriously flawed species, grasp the gestalt of these places we love. I ponder this as I float, encased in three layers of clothing, listening to birdsong on a winter river I have mostly to myself.”
Hart’s writing has appeared in Smithsonian, The New York Times Magazine, CNN, and numerous other outlets.
