RESOURCE OF THE WEEK
Much like professional wrestling, pitching often involves a cage match against many other freelance writers. That’s why it pays to know how much an outlet is offering for content before throwing your hat (and body) into the ring. In June, Anna Codrea-Rado clarified the confusion over who pays what with the #FreelancerPayGap project. The spreadsheet isn’t just a source for outlets’ standard rates — it also shows the disparities in pay based on a writer’s ethnicity and gender identity. Before you pitch an outlet, check this resource to see what rate you should be fighting for.
