–Apartment Therapy is hiring for several positions, including an assistant food editor, a home assistant editor, and an executive food director. The assistant positions are entry-level and include writing blog posts, recipes, and possibly appearing in videos. The positions can be based in New York or be done remotely.
-The Guardian US is hiring a deputy editor and a news editor, both of whom will be based in their New York office. The news editor should have a strong interest in racial justice, and the deputy editor needs substantial previous experience in managing positions.
–The Wall Street Journal is hiring a pop culture columnist to write a weekly entertainment column. The paper is also looking for a writer to write their At Work column, a reported regular feature about the realities and frustrations of the workplace today.
–The Ringer is looking for a fact checker to work on daily content as well as features. The position requires at least one year of fact-checking experience.
-The Spotify-owned podcast studio Gimlet is looking for an experienced producer to help launch a new show for a young audience (18-30 years old). The role has wide-ranging responsibilities, including finding talent, conducting interviews and editing audio.
-WNYC is hiring a health and science editor to focus on “need-to-know” scoops about health and science in the New York area. The editor should have experience covering health and science and a track record of incorporating the perspectives of diverse communities.
-Vice is hiring a lead researcher to work on several limited-run podcasts, carry out archival research, fact-check, and more. This position requires five years of experience.
–This American Life is hiring an editor to conceive and edit stories about race and identity. The editor will also manage three or four staff producers and reporters. Candidates should have a background in narrative journalism, and experience covering Black Lives Matter and policing is a plus.
-Not news, but worth repeating: The New York Times has dozens of job openings, including for a food reporter, cooking writer, assistant editor, and pharmaceutical reporter.
WASHINGTON, DC
-WAMU, the NPR station affiliated with American University, is hiring for several positions, including a news anchor, executive producer, and senior producer. All positions require several years of experience working in radio.
–Inside Higher Ed is hiring a managing editor to oversee its news operations and its team of reporters and editors. The job requires three to five years of management experience.
-Abu Dhabi-based news outlet The National is hiring for several positions in their Washington bureau, including a correspondent, copy editor, multimedia producer, and social media journalist.
-The Washington Post is hiring an assignment editor on its Style team. They must be able to “identify original and unexpected angles in news events” and work with a variety of story formats.

-ABC7 Eyewitness News is hiring a Los Angeles-based investigative reporter with prior experience in enterprise investigative journalism, preferably at another local TV station.
-Gimlet has an opening for a producer to work on a new narrative crime show based in Los Angeles. Four years of experience in radio or audio production are required.
-Friend of the pod Facebook is hiring a “curation liaison” with a passion for journalism to help curate news, video, and entertainment content. Candidates must have five or more years of experience in product management or an equivalent field.

-Connecticut Public Radio in Hartford is looking for an investigative editor to lead a three-person team that will produce high-impact local reporting that focuses on accountability. Candidates must have significant experience as an investigative reporter.
-The Philadelphia Inquirer is hiring a writer and editor to write the paper’s Morning Newsletter. Two to four years of journalism experience is preferred.
-The World at WGBH in Boston is hiring a supervising producer to oversee all aspects of the show. Two years of experience in radio production are required.

The Washington Post is hiring a part-time multiplatform editor to copy edit opinion stories and prepare them for print and online. The job requires shifts that run from 1 PM to 9 PM, and may include rotations on the weekends and holidays.
–Anti-Racism Daily is looking for a part-time reporter and a full-time or part-time editor to work on stories about racism and systemic oppression in the United States. BIPOC candidates are given preference.
-Vice is hiring a freelance podcast producer to help produce several limited-run documentaries series with a global lens. The position is six months long, but may be extended.
-Carolina Public Press is looking for regular contributors and freelancers to enhance their coverage of state government and politics in North Carolina. Candidates must be based in the state.

-ProPublica has two contract positions open on the Electionland tip desk. The assignment runs from the end of September to the beginning of November, and pays $30 an hour.
–ScienceAlert is looking for a part-time weekend editor on a three-month contract. It’s a remote role, but would suit EST-based people. The hours are from Friday to Sunday, around five hours per day, and pay starts at $600-750 per week, depending on experience.
INTERNSHIPS, GRANTS, AND FELLOWSHIPS
-The Journalism 360 Challenge, sponsored by the Knight Foundation and the Online News Association, is looking for ideas that use immersive storytelling to advance the field of journalism. Winners of the grant will receive up to $10,000 to help them take early stage projects to the next level, using technologies like 360 video, virtual reality, and spatial audio.
-OpenDemocracy is hiring a US-based investigative fellow for a period of six months for their Tracking the Backlash project on “organized opposition to women’s and LGBTIQ rights across the world.” The fellow will be paid a stipend of an amount TBD, and the position requires 40 hours per week.
-The Gerontological Society of America is accepting applications from journalists who cover issues of aging for a $1,500 grant and a training session. The deadline to apply is September 1.
-W.W. Norton is hiring remote, paid publishing interns for the fall. Pay is $15 an hour.
-The Pulitzer Center is hiring a remote, paid intern to help support the Rainforest Journalism Fund initiative. Applications are due August 19.
-Vox Media is hiring three fellows who will work in one of the following departments: short-form video, audio, editing, or reporting for the Vox website. BIPOC candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. The positions are paid, full-time, and year-long.
-The Information, the tech-focused newsletter and online publication, is hiring a three-to-six-month paid fellow. Priority is given to POC candidates.
-The Asian American Writers’ Workshop’s 2021 Margins Fellowship is now open for submissions. Fellows receive $5,000, residency at an artists’ colony, and publication opportunities. Applicants must live in NYC.
-Gimlet is offering a free mentorship program to BIPOC podcasters; mentors will provide help with production, reporting, sound design and more. The deadline to apply is August 28, and applicants will be chosen randomly.
